In this dark comedy, Mikey arrives at his older brother’s Venice, CA home having just come from their father’s funeral in Brooklyn. Tony was a no-show, and Mikey tells him that their mother was deeply hurt. Tony said he was tied up with new business stuff. Mikey learns more about Tony’s new “business venture” with his beautiful associate and live-in girlfriend, Aphrodite. The brothers have their own deal cooking, and she slowly finds out the truth, Tony and Mikey had their tyrannical father killed to inherit his chain of pizza restaurants. Throughout, the brothers constantly complain about how bad the food is, especially pizza, in Los Angeles compared to New York. They also recall old times as they await another Brooklyn visitor, Frankie, a hit man who has come to collect $50,000 for killing their father. But instead of paying off the mobster, Tony and Mikey decide to kill him and dispose of his body. The cash can now be used as seed money for Tony’s new business plan. During an intimate moment with Aphrodite, Tony shares his dark memories of Steeplechase Park in Coney Island and his abusive childhood. Aphrodite soon finds herself forced into the brothers’ murderous scheme as she sexually betrays Tony with Mikey. With Aphrodite caught between them, the two brothers face off in hand-to-hand combat that literally brings down the house. A fed up Aphrodite walks out. Then, the paranoid brothers wonder if the police or the mob will nail them for the two murders. The boys also discover that Aphrodite left with their $50,000! Ultimately, they find themselves in a predicament where nothing is what it seems, and the dawning realization that there is no way out of Brooklyn…. |
